Jun 12, 2013 Computer problem? Tech Support Guy is. AVG Killed my internet connection. Discussion in 'Networking' started by RikB, Jun 10. AVG Network Filter Driver.

After downloading AVG Internet Security and then watching it install, I saw my network connection icon starting to lose its connection. Upon completion of the installation I had no internet connection and apparently no firewall. I thought this was a good company and I decided to upgrade from the free version and download PC Tuneup as well. Neither program works and my internet doesn't connect. AVG has made it next to impossible to get help without paying more $$. They want me to pay to undo the damage they caused.

This is more than unethical. Here's the deal. AVG conflicted with my existing software (Microsoft, hello?) It cost me money to find this out, but at least the money stayed in the local economy. Dell wanted $149 for me to talk to an outsourced help with English as a very! Second language. Descargar Xampp Control Panel V3.2.1. Totally, not intelligible.

I also think I saved money. I haven't a bill yet.

Avg Update Problems

AVG never picked up my call after 45 minutes so I don't know what that would have cost. I'm getting a refund from AVG, I hope. But there is clearly and fundamental conflict between AVG Internet Security and Microsoft. AVG free worked fine for years. I also had installed AVG Tune Up and apparently that was part of the problem.

My computer wizard removed all AVG, put in Microsoft anti-virus, which is also free, and said most registry fix programs cause as many problems as they fix. So I move on.

Caveat Emptor. Buyer Beware. I have an IBM Lenovo Thinkpad now, since the Dell was killed by AVG, and and I am still giving AVG free a shot, because your leading competitor Avast, slowed my last computer down a lot. Now, it seems that AVG is doing the same thing.

What changed in this last update? I have Win XP sp3 with a dual core intel processor, high speed internet, via WiFi. ( an older netgear router that is rated at 108 mbps, which is much more than the Cable Company in my town offers. I have 4 mbps, which should be fast, but it isnt anymore). Just happened to me, to. I had heard good things about Avast, and I just paid for their super-de-duper package. I dl'd it, and come to find out that, totally without permission or notice, Avast took control of my computer and completely altered all my network/connection settings.
